1. Corporates

The innovation of the corporate personality resulted in the form of business organization which became a vehicle of rapid industrial growth in the 18th & 19th Century. This type of corporate started developing through the Royal Charters. The East India Company which was formed as a joint stock Company in order to carry on trade in India obtained its Charter from the British Sovereign in 1599. We provide the following services in the corporate sector:

2. Intellectual property rights(IP)

IP is a legal field that refers to creations of the mind such as musical, literary, and artistic works; inventions; and symbols, names, images, and designs used in commerce, including copyrights , trademarks, patents, and related rights. Under intellectual property law, the holder of one of these abstract "properties" has certain exclusive rights to the creative work, commercial symbol, or invention which is covered by it. The examples of the intellectual property are:

# Copyright
# Patents
# Trademarks
# Industrial design rights
# Utility models
# Geographical indication
# Trade secrets
# Related rights
# Trade names
# Domain names

The Talmud (is a record of rabbinic discussions pertaining to Jewish law, ethics, customs, and history) contains the first known example of codifying a prohibition against the stealing of ideas, which is further discussed in the Shulchan Aruch (written catalogue of Jewish law composed by Rabi in 16th century). The firm deals with the registration, maintenance and protection of IP.

3. Civil Wrongs (Tort)

A "tort" is a civil wrong. Such wrongs include negligence, nuisance and defamation (libel and slander). The law of torts represents the means whereby individuals may protect their private interests and obtain compensation from those who violate them.

More recently concerning law of torts, the Supreme Court Judge, Sahai J. observed: “Truly speaking entire law of torts is founded and structured on morality that no one has a right to injure or harm other intentionally or even innocently. Therefore it would be primitive to class strictly or close finally the ever-expanding and growing horizon of tortuous liability.Even for social development, orderly growth of the society and cultural refine ness the liberal approach to tortuous liability by courts is more conductive."

In much of the western world, the touchstone of tort liability is negligence. Unless the injured person can prove that the person they believe injured them acted with at least negligence to cause their injury, tort law will not compensate them. The dominant action in tort is negligence. The tort of negligence provides a cause of action leading to damages, or to injunctive relief, in each case designed to protect legal rights, including those of personal safety, property, and, in some cases, intangible economic interests.

One well-known case is Donoghue v. Stevenson where Mrs. Donoghue consumed part of a drink containing a decomposed snail while in a public bar in Paisley, Scotland and claimed that it had made her ill. The snail was not visible, as the bottle of ginger beer in which it was contained was opaque. Neither her friend, who bought it for her, nor the shopkeeper who sold it was aware of its presence. The manufacturer was Mr. Stevenson, whom Mrs. Donoghue sued for damages for negligence. She could not sue Mr. Stevenson for damages for breach of contract because there was no contract between them. The majority of the members of the House of Lords agreed (3-2) that Mrs. Donoghue had a valid claim, but disagreed as to why such a claim should exist. Lord MacMillan thought this should be treated as a new product liability case. Lord Atkin argued that the law should recognize a unifying principle that we owe a duty of reasonable care to our neighbors. He quoted the Bible in support of his argument, specifically the general principle that "thou shalt love thy neighbor." The elements of negligence are:

# Duty of care
# Breach of that duty
# Breach causing harm in fact
# Breach being a proximate or not too remote a cause, in law

We deal with the below listed torts:

# Trespass
# Negligence
# Vicarious Liability
# Nuisance (public & private) & strict liability under the rule in Rayland’s v Fletcher
# Libel and slander
# General defenses

4. Matrimonial & Family law

Marriage whether considered a sacrament or a contract gives rise to a status a husband and a wife and children out of  the wedlock are given the status of legitimate children.

(a) Registration of marriage

Registration of marriages is a mode of proof of marriage. Traditionally ,the Hindu had no law of registration and till 1955 registration was neither compulsory nor was there any provision that existed Even the Hindu marriage act does not make any registration of marriage compulsory , though it stipulates that facility for registration of marriages may be provided. But in the case of Kagavalli v Saroja, 2002 Mad.73 the Madras high court has opined that registration should be made compulsory.

(b) Adoption

Hindu jurisprudence has a remarkable feature that throughout the Hindu period right from the Vedic age till the present times the Hindus have desired to have an aurasa (natural born legitimate son) for the spiritual benefit and continuation of family. Budhayana declared “through a son one conquers the world, through a grand-son one obtains the immortality and through the great grandson one ascends to the highest heaven”. An adoption made once is final and irrevocable. It cannot be cancelled by the adopter, natural parents or any other person. Once an adoption has been duly made in accordance with law, it cannot be cancelled nor can the adopted child, the adopted parents and the natural parents destroy the right of the adopted child

(c) Divorce

Divorce need not be one of life's most unpleasant experiences, but that depends on how it is handled. The break-up of a relationship is one of the most traumatic things a person can go through. The decision to separate, or get divorced, is probably one of the most difficult decisions you will ever make. Many people agree that trying to make decisions which will affect yours, and your children’s future financial security at a time when you are feeling deep emotional hurt, is very stressful indeed. This is why it is so important to obtain sound legal advice at the earliest stage possible to try to ensure that you are protected, and that matters can hopefully be resolved amicably. In fact, obtaining legal advice early on may make the whole process a lot quicker and easier to resolve.

(d) Custody of child

The custody of the child Is a very vital question affecting the children & parents emotionally, economically & socially. When a party is given custody of the child, the other party is usually allowed the access to the children so that the child may not loose the society of the other parent and they grow in full awareness and affection of both the parents. In all matters pertaining to children the welfare of the child is of paramount consideration.

(e) Domestic violence issues

Domestic violence is any incident of threatening behavior, violence or abuse (be it physical or emotional) between adults who are or have been in a relationship together, or between family members, regardless of gender or sexuality. Domestic abuse occurs across society. Although government figures show that domestic abuse consists mainly of violence by men against women, it is not restricted to these circumstances. Men too are abused by their partners and children can also be caught up in domestic violence. It goes without saying that everyone has the right to live without fear for their safety. You have the right to complain to the police; as such behavior may constitute a criminal offence and they may attract penal implications.

(f) Mediation

Mediation consists of a neutral person whose role is to help  the couple reach agreement but without giving legal advice to either party. Mediation is offered to both represented and unrepresented parties.
